It's not only violin playing at the Lake City String Academy.  At the Academy, participants are involved in discussions and lessons that help one become a well-rounded musician and professional.   Daily private lessons and master classes with violinist Annie Chalex Boyle help develop repertoire and technique with a pedagogue who is also a performing artist.  Private lessons with Theorist/Composer John K. Boyle help to learn the background and historical aspects of their works.  Rehearsals with pianist Nataliya Sukhina provide the opportunity to rehearse with a world renowned professional collaborative artist.

Deadline for applications is April 1, 2017.  Incomplete applications will not be accepted. We would like to see a video recording of the exposition of the first movement from a violin concerto (no cadenza) and a contrasting solo work.  Total recording time must not exceed 15 minutes.  Memory is not required.  No accompaniment, please. We are expecting that the video be made by using a smartphone, tablet or other everyday technological device.

Upon acceptance, Professor Annie Chalex Boyle will contact you about specific violin repertoire you would like to study during the Academy.
Participants will be performing both accompanied and unaccompanied classical violin repertoire, specified prior to the beginning of the Academy.  Our faculty collaborative pianist is available for all lessons, master classes, outreach performances, and concerts.

All students of the Academy will be staying at the Creson House, an A-frame home with a full kitchen and shared bathrooms.  This home is within walking distance to the concert hall, churches, and downtown area of Lake City, CO.  Some rooms are multiple occupancy, depending on our enrollment needs.

Students will be responsible for their own meals.  There is a full kitchen at the Creson House for student use.  There is a grocery store in Lake City, as well as numerous restaurants.

The easiest way to arrive in Lake City, CO, is by car.  However, if you need to fly, the nearest and most convenient airport is in Gunnison, CO (1 hour away).  We will arrange for transportation to and from the Gunnison Airport.
